Oracle DBA

Our client is seeking an experienced Oracle DBA to support the client's commercial cloud customers who reside in Microsoft Azure (Gov/DoD).  Client is a managed service provider (MSP) for they support enterprise applications owners in migrating their systems into Microsoft Azure and also provide sustainment services to support their applications.  This position is for an Oracle DBA with MySQL and EDB/PostgreSQL to provide database administration capabilities to cloud customers.

Job Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as an Oracle DBA subject matter expert (SME) for evaluating customer's current application database architecture and develop a new architecture to be deployed in Azure

  • Collaborate with internal and external parties to transform high-level technical objectives into comprehensive technical requirements.
  • Build and deploy database infrastructure for customer applications
  • Provide sustainment of customer database systems to include installation, patching, upgrades, database schema administration, exports/imports, backup administration, and hardening of the database systems.
  • Assist with identifying and planning potential new cloud services, features, and capabilities.
  • Make recommendations for improvements to security, scalability, manageability, and performance across a wide variety of network, storage, compute, and database technologies.

Job Must Haves

  • Five or more years of experience (including design, installation, configuration, administration, patching, upgrades, tuning, backup and recovery, and troubleshooting) with the Oracle Enterprise Database in a UNIX environment on physical and virtual servers; similar skills are required for MySQL and EDB/PostgreSQL
  • Mid to senior level Oracle DBA experience in a commercial cloud environment
  • Oracle 12c, 19c including Multitenant, RAC, DataGuard, Grid Infrastructure, Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM) and Oracle Automatic Storage Management Cluster File System (ACFS)
  • Strong backup and recovery experience using Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN) with Veritas NetBackup
  • Strong security experience including data-at-rest, over-the-wire encryption using pkcs12 containers, and transparent data encryption (TDE) for Oracle and MySQL
  • Strong performance tuning experience for both transactional and analytical workloads
  • Strong troubleshooting experience utilizing database and operating system capabilities
  • Strong shell scripting experience in PL/SQL
  • Strong system administrative experience
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Active Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree at a minimum

Nice to Haves

  • Databases:  Oracle 12c, Oracle 19c, MySQL 5.7, PostgreSQL 13.5
  • Informatica 1205.0609
  • Oracle BI (OBIEE) 12.2.1
  • Platforms:  Linux x86-64 with SELinux
  • Experience with any of the following is beneficial : Oracle Weblogic 11g and 12c
  • Working knowledge of DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and Security Requirements Guides (SRG)
  • Working knowledge of DoD STIGs, and IA Vulnerability Management (IAVM)
