The Client
A rapidly expanding multi-state regional power utility with over one million commercial and private customers required a new online customer billing and account management system.
The Engagement
Working with an IBM services team, Encode was asked to replace significant components of the client's messaging infrastructure while mentoring the client on IBM "Best Practices".
Critical Services Delivered
Encode analyzed the environment, installed and tested the middleware portions of both the primary and secondary host systems. During system testing phase, Encode determined that the LDAP software would not work properly with the installed database, IBM DB2, due to incompatible versions, which required updates to both products.
Encode was able to complete this task within a one-month timeframe, keeping the project on schedule and within budget.

- Software Installation, Configuration and Integration
- "Best Practices" Mentoring
Technology Used
The software selected for the project was all-IBM, primarily IBM WebSphere Business Integrator. This software "is unique amongst B2B and EAI software packages in that it covers the six dimensions of integration with a single platform — scaling from departmental to corporate footprints." (IBM*) Extensive use was made of IBM MQ Series and LDAP Directory Services, all on the IBM AIX operating system.
